Meet PITA, born Peter Linus, a Lagos-based gospel artist with a profound story and a ministry that has touched countless lives. While many know him for his powerful vocals and soul-stirring lyrics, what may come as a surprise is that PITA stands for “Praise In This Age.” His journey in music began at the tender age of seven, singing in the children’s choir at his parents’ church. Coming from a deeply musical family, with parents who are pastors, PITA’s foundation in both faith and music was laid early on. His mother, who remains his greatest fan, continues to be a strong source of support in his ministry.
A Faith Anchored in Family
PITA credits his parents for instilling the values of the Christian faith in him. “My parents were and still are the model of true Christianity for me,” he shares. “They made sure they taught us and showed us the principles of God’s kingdom and a life that’s pleasing to God.” A pivotal moment came when PITA attended a scripture union camp as a child, solidifying his personal relationship with God. “My parents still play a huge role in my walk with God. They have walked the walk,” he reflects.

The Birth of ‘Dear God’
PITA’s latest release, ‘Dear God,’ stems from a place of deep gratitude. After recovering from a stroke four years ago, PITA openly shared his miraculous healing, though he faced some pushback for mentioning it often. “Some people started saying I shouldn’t talk about it so much,” he recalls. At one point, he began holding back. But that changed during a fateful encounter. “I was driving to a worship meeting, and I saw a man who obviously had suffered a stroke. He was struggling to cross the road, and I just gripped my steering wheel so tightly, and the song burst out from my spirit,” he reveals. “This is the fastest song I have ever written. It came from a place of truth and genuine gratitude.”
Collaborations That Shape Ministry
Over the years, PITA has collaborated with gospel greats such as Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwo, Onos Ariyo, and Victoria Orenze. He reflects on these experiences with gratitude: “These collaborations have come with different experiences, and I’m grateful for them.” His work with these artists has expanded his reach and deepened his mission of spreading God’s message through music.
The Reward of Testimonies
For PITA, the greatest reward of his music career lies in the testimonies he receives from listeners. He admits that there have been moments of weariness and burnout, but hearing the impact his music has on others renews his strength. “The testimonies that have come from these songs have been my comfort and stay. Hearing and reading what God is doing for His people through my songs always sends a jolt of renewed energy,” he says. “As long as God’s people are being blessed, I’ll be here.”

The Power of Gospel Music
PITA believes gospel music holds a unique power to move hearts and spirits. “Music is the only thing that doesn’t need your permission to enter your spirit,” he explains. “As long as you listen, it will influence your subconscious. I have seen true gospel music move people to pray, to give thanks, worship, become sober, and repent.”
A Message of Encouragement
To those struggling in their faith journey, PITA offers a powerful reminder: “God can be trusted. I have never seen anyone who puts his faith in God and ends up in shame.”
What’s Next for PITA?
Looking ahead, PITA promises exciting new projects. “I definitely have surprises coming for everyone before the year runs out. Surprise collaborations and much more,” he shares.
